Misc. Monday: Daddy's Day

We hope you all had a great Father's Day yesterday. We did. Lilly helped me make Dan breakfast in bed, and we made him some crafty cards that we found online. Lilly really enjoyed her first experience with the glue stick and she has asked me to do a craft everyday since we made the cards. P.S. The girls wore their Dodger gear especially for Daddy's special Day!

Sew Crafty Saturday: Garden

One of the things we love to do as a family is spend time in our garden. The 4 beds are filled with corn, tomatoes, herbs, and flowers. This is the first year we have planted corn and it now stands taller than Dan. It truly is an amazing sight. We can't wait to BBQ a few ears. Lilly loves to water and pick the flowers. She clutches them tightly in her fist and tells me that she needs a vase. Dan took me to this amazing little nursery in Orange this week, called M&M. They specialize in fairy (and Wizard of Oz, mermaid, gnome, jungle animals...) miniature gardens. We got a lot of ideas, bought some plants, then headed over to Michaels to buy our accessories. The nursery's were very expensive and too gorgeous for a 2 year old. Dan even made the little fence with twigs from the avocado tree and some twine. I would recommend this project to anyone with young children. You don't need a yard, just one decent size pot, some ground cover, small toys and an imagination.

Wee-Ones Wednesday: Sephora

Every time I see my new blog, I'm saddened by the poor empty header at the top. I plan to do something about that this summer. Anyway, I am not in the habit of taking pictures at the mall, but I am so glad I was able to capture this moment. Penny and I went to Sephora (giant make-up store) and this is what happened when we turned our back on Lilly. She took an eye shadow brush and proceeded to color her cheek. She proudly showed us her gorgeous face as we burst out laughing.

Sew Crafty Saturday: Shopping Tote

I went to a repurposing/recycling craft event at a local craft store today. It was a lot of fun. I screen printed a few kids' clothes, and made this cute pin and shopping bag out of an old t-shirt. I really enjoyed having the time to myself to be creative and got a lot of ideas for future projects. Thanks for watching the kids, Dan!

Wee-Ones Wednesday: Baby Love

My best friend Heather had her son Reese 3 weeks before Iris was born. Now we know that they are not going to want to get married because they will grow up together and tell us, "That's gross Mom!" But wouldn't it be fun?

Misc. Monday: Happy Birthday, Maddie!

We just got home from the park, and as I was buckling Lilly into her car seat, she told me, "Thank you for taking me there, Mom." Moments like that make my heart melt. This weekend we went to Maddie's 5th birthday party. It seems like just yesterday we were throwing Heather a baby shower and this year Maddie will be going to Kindergarten. All the cliches you hear about time are true, it does go too fast and we do need to enjoy every minute of it! The party was great: Backyardigans obstacle course, face painting, balloon animals, limbo, pizza, and cupcakes. Yum!

Sew Crafty Saturday: Quilts

My Aunt Cheryl made both girls these beautiful quilts when they were born. She does a wonderful job and we know they will become keepsakes. Their names and birth dates are even quilted on them. I am taking a quilting class again this summer and with lots of practice, I hope to be able to make some amazing quilts myself one day. I was not blogging when Lilly was born, so I included a picture of her on her quilt as well.

Wee-Ones Wed: Over the Hills & Through the Woods

...to Grandma's house we go. Lilly loves spending the night at her grandma and grandpa's house. Not only do they have a giant Radio Flyer horse for her to ride, but they are the only ones in the family who have Disneyland passes. It's so wonderful to think of the memories she will have of her grandparents. All of them are super involved in her life and truly enjoy spending time with her. As soon as my mom comes to pick her up, Lilly gets her bags and says, "Let's go, Grandma. Let's go." They crank up the Beatles on the way and sing to their hearts content. The last time they brought her home from Disneyland, she napped until 6:30 and she can't wait to go again.
