Sew Crafty Saturday: Hello Daddy!

Last Sunday, we had some friends over to carve pumpkins. It was fun. We always let the little ones loose with markers, so they we self-contained. This year the daddies took charge of the pumpkin carving. It was great! Us mommies got to sit around, talk, and take pictures. Lilly was sooo excited with her finished jack-o-lantern. I think she realized just how much her daddy loves her! I found the Hello Kitty template by randomly searching online. P.S. Iris now sits on every pumpkin she sees and smiles. I'm pretty sure I've trained her to think that pumpkins are photo props!

Wee-Ones Wednesday: Iris Update

Iris got this bag cookies out of the pantry by herself, took a bib out of the drawer and put in on backwards, and sat down to have a snack. Look how proud she is!

She would not let us leave her purse in the car when we visited the CSUF arboretum.

She loves "It's A Small World" at Disneyland.

Her favorites at her Toddler Gym class are: crawling through the tunnel, doing somersaults with Miss Lori, and playing with her friend, Adam.
Baby Iris is now 18 months old. She still doesn't say much, and grunts often. Dan calls her, Baby Ugg, because she's our cave baby. She's very good at "bye-bye, cookie, hi guys, ball, baby, and dog." It's a bit strange because at this age, Lilly could carry a conversation. Yet, there are so many things that Iris does that Lilly never did. Iris opens doors, she points to her diaper when she goes, and even brings me a new one to change her into! She will come up to you, take your hand, and pull you over to what she wants if she can't get it her self. She can follow directions with ease, puts her dirty clothes in the hamper, and sneaks snacks as well as Lilly's toys. She even sits on the toilet before bath time. She wants to be just like her sister and ride a trike, drink from a cup, sit in a booster, write in a journal, and put on her own shoes . Both girls have amazing dance moves and love music. Iris is a major cuddler, she often puts her head on our shoulders. It's so precious! She still loves her blankies and drags them around where ever we go. She also loves to carry a purse.

Misc. Monday: Halloweening the Home

Here's a little peek at our home during Halloween. The console table has a new display this year, and I love how it came together! I purchased the typewriter for $5 at a garage sale, and plan on leaving it out now permanently. We think it would be fun to leave messages for friends, and have them type a little something in return. I just found the ribbon for it on Ebay for $10, so I'm super excited! Dan picked up the frames at an estate sale for $1, and the printables inside are free at Craftily Ever After. You can even print out the banner for yourself over at Allsorts. Hope your having a fantastically cute October!

Sew Crafty Saturday: Boo To You!

We've been boo-ed! Last night the door bell rang and a little treat bag was left on our door step from a secret neighbor. How fun is that? Now we get to "boo" two more neighbors. Lilly's already decorating the bags now! Part of the instructions are to put the "We've been boo-ed" sign in our window. It will be neat to see how many kids in the neighborhood get boo-ed.

Wee-Ones Wednesday: Octoberfest

My dad's garden in Chino

The happiest place on Earth!
As my good friend, Emy likes to point out, Octoberfest is not about beer at all. It's about pumpkin patches, pumpkin carving, pumpkin crafts, and pumpkin desserts. We've visited Tanaka Farms, got two giant pumpkins from my dad, and went to see the Halloween decorations and Disneyland already. As you can see, Octoberfest is officially upon us!

Misc. Monday: Crafting W/Kids

Yesterday, (the day after our little boutique-I know what some of you are thinking), we had some of the neighborhood kids over to our house to do a little crafting. My "four feathered friends" brought their children and came to help. I got the craft idea from my friend, Cindy, at work. The original instructions were a bit too involved for me, so of course I scrapped them and did it my way. What child can wait for black paint and Elmer's glue to dry? Instead, I used black plastic plates (prettier & sturdier), glue dots (strong & no drying time), and a paint marker in order to have instant gratification. I got all the supplies at the Dollar Store. Dan though the craft was a bit hokey, but even the older children got into it. It was so fun to see how different all of the spiders turned out. Some even had eight eyes. I baked some cookies-premade dough of course,  and took out some old Halloween napkins from my party stash. It was so fun and easy. Why don't you have a holiday "crafting with kids" in your neighborhood?

Sew Crafty Saturday: We Did It!

Here's a look at our Four Feathered Friends craft boutique. It was so much fun. Thanks to everyone who came out. Someone is interested in us participating in a local craft fair with other vendors, and we have plans to sell on our etsy store. So long...for now!

Wee-One Wed.: The Great Pumpkin Patch

Halloween season has officially begun! We love this time of year because it is all about fun. Saturday, we went to Tanaka Farms with the Givens clan. Our girls love Quentin. It's adorable because they actually fight for his attention. This was our first time at Tanaka Farms, and we loved it. There was a little hay maze and a giant corn maze. We rode a tractor around the farm, and even got to see a cannon shoot a pumpkin 350 yards in the air. Thank you Grammy, for the girls' super cute outfits!!

Misc. Monday: Birthday Party?

What comes after the best dance party ever?
We always had birthday parties growing up. My mom made a big deal about birthdays because they were your very own special day, unlike holidays, which are for everyone. My favorite was when I was 18 and a senior in high school. My mom filled my entire car with balloons and I had to drive to school like that! Lilly's turning 4 on Dec. 1st and I'm not sure what to do for her birthday. I wanted it to be a "low key" year, but I'm noticing that the older she gets the more excited she becomes. She asks about her birthday at least 3 or 4 times a week. My niece, Sophia's first birthday is the weekend before, and my sister has a super cute party planned. I usually know exactly what I want to do way before I even need to think about it, but this year, I'm stumped. I found a cute balloon party online (looks like a lot of work)... or should we go somewhere? What kind of party should we have to celebrate Lilly's 4th?

Sew Crafty Saturday: Like Mother, Like Daughter

I'm not the only crafty one around here. I was embroidering last week and Lilly wanted me to show her how. I explained that the needle was sharp, but I'm pretty sure her Grandma has some sewing cards we could practice on. We called Grandma to see if we could borrow them, and instead she brought this neat "learn the sew" kit. I'm very excited to share Lilly's first sewing project that she completed with the help of her Grandma. It was so funny to watch because Lilly is a lot like me, and just wanted to do it herself. She is so proud of her little heart and I am too!!!

Misc. Monday: My Lil' Corner

I haven't shown you my little corner of our bedroom in awhile, so I thought I would now. My plan is to fill up the entire wall to the right of my desk with lovely things that I find. I used to want to finish projects right away and check them off "the list," but as I get older, I find that there is something to be said for taking my time. That said, expect to see more of my space in the future. It can only get prettier!
